“Khachar Bhitor Ochin Pakhi” – A duet between an Electric Blues Guitarist
and a Mystic Folk Singer from Bengal. Both are UK residents and this is the
first time they performed together. What began as a Vocal lead – Guitar
accompaniment, led to an improvised musical exchange, culminating in the
Indian flute ending the piece. This is one of the numerous musical
experiments have have co-ordinated.

“Nirjhorini” – This is a Semi-Classical Folk song from East India, arranged
using South Indian Classical musicians and Contemporary Western
musicians from the Fusion and Pop genres. Again, this was the first time any
of the musicians had played together. The music was recorded in a studio,
arranged jointly by a Western Pop Composer and an Indian Composer. The
process involved Composers as well as musicians teaching other the
musical grammar of each other’s genres in order for them to communicate
musically. All musicians are UK-based but had never worked together.

“Ami Opaar” – This dark, minimalistic piece was a collaboration between a
Folk singer from Bangladesh and an over-driven Ry Cooder-style Guitarist. It
was performed as an accompaniment to the mystic theatre play exploring
the theme of death and suicide. The musicians had worked together once in
the past on one of our productions and we brought them together to develop
their creative partnership. This is an example of a piece we would like to
flesh out and develop as a full piece a fuller instrumentation for performance,
based on audience members approaching us and commenting on the
beauty of the music.
